Helping people to advocate for themselves and their family members is part of NAMI’s role. According to NAMI Ohio, “Advocates ensure rights, reverse wrongs, provide protection and encourage a more humane and responsive system. Advocates exist because all too often the system fails those with mental illness.”

In recent years, MOCA House participants have rallied for a variety of causes.

MOCA participants joined in the 2013 Anti-Stigma Rally which meant to attack stigmas toward mental illness in society. The rally was hosted by NAMI Ohio.

MOCA House received an award for advocacy.

Participants visited with the Governor of Ohio in 2013.
