NAMI Wayne and Holmes Counties relies heavily on community support and volunteers.

Advocacy:

NAMI NextGen is a young adult focused program for 18–25-year-olds who are passionate about mental health and creating lasting change.  Through leadership opportunities that help with education, advocacy, and support of mental health awareness.  These efforts focus on promoting mental health awareness and resources for youth age 14-25.

Community Events:

Share NAMI information at community events, set up/tear down display tables, field follow-up questions to NAMI staff member.


As needed time commitment.

Family Support:

If you have helped a family member with mental health concerns, this opportunity involves helping other families.  You can provide support once a month at our family support group, or in our 8-session Family-to-Family education program.  Training is provided.


Time commitment can very to your availability. Family support group meets the 1st Tuesday of each month at 6:30 pm.  Family-to-Family education happens twice a year.





Fundraising Committee:

Attend monthly committee meetings, support NAMI staff in needed tasks at events, especially the Walk & 5K for Wellness in May. 


Monthly time commitment that meets on the 3rd Monday of each month at 10 AM, and as needed for event help.

MOCA House Program:

Be a support to peers in recovery.  Involves recreational activities, discussion groups, help with meals in kitchen, gardening, advocacy, and light housekeeping. 


Time commitment can very to your availability.

Office Support:

Can include answering phones, greeting visitors, sorting files and materials, preparing mailings, manuals for education classes, or cleaning.


Time commitment as available.
